- My Nochebuena will make you realize that you are 10,000 times richer than I am.
- Filipinos are known in the world for their lavish Christmas celebration.
- Nochebuena in the Philippines is grandiose in all aspects.
- This time of the year is the most-awaited festival primarily because it's connected to their religious belief about Jesus who was born to save the people from their sins.
Today, I'm going to share how my Christmas celebration went last night. As already mentioned above, Filipinos normally practice a luxurious Christmas party at their homes but not me. There are tons of reasons why I could not afford to do it but my simple way of doing things this Christmas will make you realize that you are 10,000 times richer than I am.
They said that call center agents like me are lavish when it comes to Christmas party and Nochebuena preparation. This could be linked to the impression that call center employees are earning tons of cash from the Business Process Outsourcing(BPO) industry. Also, it has been observed that call center representives are always seen buying expensive and luxury goods from Starbucks coffee shop.
However, contratry to these general beliefs, there are some call center employees (like me) who could not stretch our financial capacity to cater such fancy party celebrations. It's not always true that call center agents are banking 6-digit of money per month to their individual accounts. For example, my own salary is way below compared to others.
Because of some financial constraints, I thoroughly analyzed the budget that I could allocate for my Nochebuena this 2016. I already planned this ahead of time. The amount is really small since I have a tight budget this year.
How much did I allocate for my 2016 Christmas celebration?
Believe it or not, I only spared P100.00 which is 2.006 US dollars. The amount was enough to buy one half kilogram of mussel, chili pepper leaves, ginger, and onion leeks.
I attached a composite picture for those who are really curious to see my Nochebuena. I'm pretty sure that the food and meals you prepared this Christmas would indicate that you are 10,000 times richer than I am.
Forgive me for my humble Christmas treat for myself.
Here's the other meal I had for Christmas 2016. For me, this is a descent food and worth it to be included in my Nochebuena 2016.
To some people who know me in person, they might think that I am exaggerating the limits of truths in this post. But to those who really know much about my pesonality (only few people), they will surely realize the primary reason why I spend small amount for myself during Christmas. Also, in 2016, there had been major donations that our blog network had shared to those who were in dire need.
If your sons, daughters, and relatives are complaining about the cheap Nochebuena on their table, you better share this post to them to make them realize that they are 10,000 wealthier than I am.
Regardless on the form and how you celebrated the holiday, still we wish you all a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!
